Yesterday (7 October), the A Grade Girls’ hockey team started the season with a win against South Island School. After a slightly rusty start, the team, who was playing together for the first time, hit their stride and started passing well and dominating the possession.

Some excellent mid-field play by Issy, Jemma and Noa resulted in an attacking play ending with a goal from Milan. In defense, Tash, Disha, Emma and Niamh kept the ball clear of the goal with some excellent clearances. Good set pieces and some wonderful skilled play from Emily in the second half.

SIS selected Niamh Neville as the Most Valuable Player for this match – Congratulations Niamh
!

Particular thanks goes to A grade Captain Issy Brown for her excellent organisation of the team and leadership to ensure all students from Years 10- 13 feel part of the team. Next match is tomorrow at Boundary Street against Good Hope School.
