As you may know we have had regular checks of the school buildings to ensure the safety of the school as the site gets older. Contractors have surveyed the concrete to look for areas of weakness or degradation, and make repairs where necessary.
The buildings do not have many years of life in them as we are planning to demolish and start rebuilding in less than three years, however we are conscious of the paramount importance of maintaining a safe environment.
One small area of crumbling concrete this week indicates that action must be taken to protect everyone against whatever degradation may happen anywhere on the campus. This work will begin on Saturday and be largely completed before we return to school on October 27th. Certainly all areas where there is any possibility of risk in the near future will be completely protected by then. The protection may not be the most aesthetically pleasing addition to the school, but it will be safe.
