Dear Parents,

The Year 7 Island Time programme has reached the end of its unit on Identity, and from now until February we will complete a unit of work on Innovation. Students will develop their creative skills and creative thinking will be at the centre of the unit, which looks at Hong Kong through the following themes:

  • Change from the old to the new can bring conflict
  • Change from the old to the new is a creative process
  • Creative thinking affects change
  • Creative thinking responds to change

On 25th November one of our introductory sessions will use UMBRELLAS as the main prompt for creative activities. If possible, your child needs to bring an umbrella to the session. A very old or broken umbrella would be best so that they can recycle it, but if they bring a newer umbrella we will not break it!

The students will be out of school on the mornings of Dec 2nd, Dec 16th and Jan 13th.  Trips will be arranged on the rotation seen in the attachment

We will walk down to Central and take a private bus back.

Your child will need to bring money for refreshments in the park, a waterproof jacket or umbrella, a sun hat, water, a pencil case, a camera if possible.

We will take the bus to and from the ferry pier, walk along each waterfront and take the Star Ferry.

Your child will need to bring an OCTOPUS CARD for the Star Ferry, money for refreshments, a waterproof jacket or umbrella, a sun hat, water, a pencil case, a camera if possible.

We will take the bus to the ferry pier, walk along each waterfront and take the Star Ferry.

Your child will need to bring an OCTOPUS CARD ($8.60 each way), $40 for a light early lunch in a Chinese restaurant, a waterproof jacket or umbrella, a sun hat, water, a pencil case, a camera if possible.

For each trip risk assessment has been carried out and students will return before lunchtime. Students should wear their school PE kits. Please note that the PTA shop now stocks tracksuit pants and tops for winter sports uniform.

We would welcome the support of as many parents as possible to join us on these trips. Please contact me (julian.reed@online.island.edu.hk) if you are able to do so on any of the three days.

Best Regards,

Julian Reed
