Dear Parents of Year 8 Humanities students,
Year 8 Humanities students will be attending a beach cleanup activity in Discovery Bay as part of their current environmental study unit on Friday the 16th January 2015.
Students will be undertaking a beach cleanup and waste survey on the North Plaza Beach in conjunction with the Plastic Free Seas group and WWF in preparation for their final assessment for the unit.
Our students will be travelling from school to Discovery Bay by bus and we will be leaving at 10 am. Students who live in Discovery Bay should come to school as normal but will be able to return directly home after the trip ends at 1.45pm
Students should bring a packed lunch, a litre of drinking water and warm clothes. A coat may be necessary as the weather can be cold and wet during January. Students should wear casual clothing and closed sturdy shoes or trainers (no sandals, flip flops or Crocs please). All classes will receive a health and safety briefing prior to the trip relating to safe methods of waste collection and disposal.
We will return to Hong Kong Island from Discovery Bay by bus at 1.45pm. Students will be dropped off at Admiralty or Island School at approximately 2.40pm and 3pm respectively.
Please indicate where you would like your son/daughter to be dropped off after the trip on the attached reply slip and return this to the drop box in the general office by the 8th January 2015.
