From the 16th January to the 18th January, 15 Island School students attended a Model United Nations conference at Concordia International School Shanghai in Shanghai. Model United Nations (MUN) is a great chance to practice public speaking skills as well as become more informed in international relations. Island School has been sending two delegation groups for the last three years. This year, we took on the nations of Bolivia and Pakistan as our delegations.

Bolivia:

GA3- Felicia Lee 11F

GA4- Andrea Chin 11F

GA6- Emma Davis 11W

Ad Hoc Committee- Noa Horowitz 11D

Ecosoc- Heena Kothari 12E and Tashwita Pruthi 12R

Pakistan:

GA1- Ravi Mulchandani 12N

GA3- Rushabh Bohra 11N

GA4- Ronaq Mathur 12E

GA6- Ansis Liu 11N

Ad Hoc Committee- Jonathan Fan 11W

Human Rights Council: Chun Yu Yiu 12W

Advisory Panel- Gabriel Ng 13R

Two students were also fortunate to represent the school as a Judge and a Deputy President. Brian Wong 13W was selected as a Deputy President in the Security Council and Steven Green 12W was selected as a Judge in the International Court of Justice.

Overall, it was a fantastic learning experience for all students involved. We would like to thank Ms. Rhian Thomas for all her hard work in MUN overall as well as looking after us on the trip and sorting out all the details so wonderfully. We would also like to thank Mr. Rowson for his history tours at the Bund where he gained an outside audience and for also looking after us on the trip. We could not have done it without both of your support!
