At the Winter Fair families and friends came together to watch live acts, eat hot dogs, sponge the teacher and celebrate the Island School spirit.
Over 1500 people attended the fair – one of the most well attended in recent years. New to the fair this year was the silent auction which invited people to bid for prizes including; junk boat trips, pizza making lessons at Café Déco and drumming lessons, the most popular one was ‘Principal for a day’! “This new ISPTA initiative was organised by Sheila Chan & Gini Lo who did an amazing job!” said PTA Co Chair Sonali Laul.
Sonali said; “We had two new fair organisers this year Mindy Oh and Valerie Pijpers. There is a massive amount of work that goes into planning and I am always grateful and humbled by the generosity of people both in terms of the time they are willing to give up and the donations they make.”
The money raised from the fair is used in two ways, to buy things for the school and it is used for the Kenneth McBride and Nicola Myers Fund which supports students from public schools to continue their education.
