Dear Parent/Guardian,

I would like to inform you about details of the upcoming Year 9 Geography trip to Mui Wo, Lantau Island on the 24th February 2016 The classes will be led as follows:

HJD class PXS class

Wed period 1- led by Mr Sims

PXS class

Wed period 4- led by Mr Williams

PXS class

Thu class led by Mrs Bryce

FHC class

All Students will come to school as normal on the day of the trip and attend lessons 1 and 2. The groups will go by bus down from school after long-break to the Central Ferry piers and will take a public ferry to Mui Wo. I would request that the students bring their Octopus cards with them with at least $ 51.60 credit to pay for the return ferry journey.

The students are studying a unit on sustainable tourism and the purpose of the trip is for students to collect information and undertake activities that will enable them to complete their assessment in this unit.

Students should bring a packed lunch and drinking water, clipboard, pen and paper, a large transparent plastic bag can be useful to protect worksheets from the rain. Warm and wet weather clothing (a coat, layers of clothing, umbrella)  will also be required as it can often be cold and wet in February. A camera/smartphone are also useful for the students.

The trip will finish at 2.35pm for those students who live in Mui Wo, who can then make their own way home after the trip. A staff member will return to Discovery Bay with some of the students. The rest of the students will return to Central by ferry at 2.40pm from Mui Wo to arrive back in Central at approximately 3.10pm. Students will be dismissed at the ferry pier to make their own way home.

I would also request that you complete the parental reply form to indicate how you would like your son/daughter to make their own way home after the trip. Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any further questions about the trip.

Yours sincerely,

Howard Davis
