Elected Parent Representative on the School Council

Dear Parents,

We are very pleased to announce the results of the recent election for the post of parent representative on the School Council. The winner is Viv Lonergan, mother of a son in year 11.

We would like to thank all three candidates for standing for this important role. It is not always easy to put yourself forward and the candidates have shown a willingness to give time and energy to support the school and take a part in its development.

Congratulations to Mrs Lonergan, who joins Susan Finder and Sonali Laul as the parent representatives on the council. We are all looking forward to working with her.

We would also like to thank Christine Brendle who has stepped forward to chair the Council’s Finance Committee.

Extended – Election of Parent Reps on the School Council

Dear Parents,

As we have not yet have a parent nomination for the Island School Council, we have decided to extend the deadline for these nominations until the first day of next term.

The council is a vital part of the school operations and overseas all that we do through its various committees. It is the organ that monitors the way we spend our money, the way we deliver our curriculum, the results of our exams, our health and safety, our relationship with ESF and of course the decant and the redevelopment.

We hold two council meetings each term, in the evenings from 5.30pm to about 7.30pm. Council members would also be asked to serve on a committee of their interest. These meet less frequently, and are usually during the day.

It is very important that the parents have a voice on the council, so I urge you to think of standing yourself, or perhaps persuading someone else to stand who might be interested.

Please feel free to contact me or the current or recent parent reps, Toni Hatherly, Shalini Sujanini and Susan Finder, for more information.
