Year 13 Key Dates and Information

Dear Parents
We have reached the time of year when we need to begin preparations for our Year 13 students to complete their time at Island School.  Here are some key dates to remember as well as some additional information regarding this crucial stage.
31st March – IB Diploma Study Leave begins
28th April – IB Examinations begin
19th May – IB Examinations end
23rd May – BTEC Lessons end
23rd May – Graduation
29th May – Dinner Dance
6th July – IB Results
IB Diploma and IB Subjects
March 31st will be the last formal day for IB lessons.  The examinations begin on the 28th April and the examination office will be sending out individual timetables to the students in due course.
From Tuesday 18th April to Friday 21st we will be following the usual timetable for IB lessons but these will be on a voluntary basis only for students.  For some the opportunity to meet their teachers after the Easter break could help them to go through any questions they may have.  For other students however it may be more appropriate for them to stay at home to revise in this period as they can get distracted by friends in school at a crucial time.
BTEC
All BTEC lessons end on May 23rd.  Students will need to have completed all work by that date.
From the 18th April BTEC students only have to be in school for their actual BTEC lessons.  They will not need to attend registration, any IB lessons, tutor period or Games from this point onward.  If any students are taking an IB examination they are entitled to study leave the day before the examination.  If there are students who have not met expectations in terms of course progress by this stage they will be required to stay in school for the whole school day as normal in this time.
Post Results Service
Detailed information will be provided to all students and shared on the Parent Portal regarding what happens after results are issued.  The Higher Education team will also be running sessions with the students this term to ensure they are fully prepared in terms of accepting offers and what to do post results.
Events
I look forward to seeing you all at the Graduation in May.  Before that we will also have the IB and BTEC Art Exhibition from the 14th – 17th March as well as the Applied Learning Show Case Evening on the 14th March.  Further details on these events will be provided at a later date.
